In the post-pandemic era, the demand for care continues to increase, placing significant constraints on health systems’ resources and bottlenecking care delivery. Now, as we’re coming to a place of recovery, it is time to re-examine and re-evaluate the ways in which health systems should operate and be structured to best serve their communities. As technology innovation continues to drive digital transformation, health system leaders must make changes to the way they manage patient flow, evaluated through their ability to control the levers of demand, capacity, and throughput. When they start thinking about care orchestration more holistically, they can then create the operational scale that will trigger better utilization of their resources and optimal patient outcomes.
